WELCOME! LAIPNI LUGTS!

This is the web platform created by the participants of the international seminar entitled "Active Youth for a Truly Democratic European Family", organised by Klubs Māja and JEF-Europe, which was held in Saulkrasti and Rīga in Latvia from 26/10 till 1/11/2008.

The main themes of the seminar were about active citizenship and participation by the citizens towards political life, meant in a wider sense than the partitic one.

The participants had the opportunity to discuss about this topic among themselves, with some activities such as a powerbrainstorm, or working groups about youth participation in civil society.

Moreover, they went "on the field", and asked to people in Saulkrasti about what do they think on active citizenship.

And, of course, there were lectures with qualified speakers, such as Romualds Razuks, Nils Muiznieks and Andreas Klein; or a panel discussion with Ilze Juhansone, Linda Jākobsone and Andris Gobiņš.

There was also the possibility to talk about other topics not strictly linked to the main ones, such as  federalism, education, collaboration within different organisations.

And there were also many opportunities to stay together and share a bit of the own culture, thanks to an international evening and a small "European Short Movies Festival".
